Did you ever eat ice cream made out of snow?

When I was a kid my mother made ';ice cream'; out of snow. It had vanilla in it I am sure, but I forgot anything else. Does anyone know? Have you ever heard of this? Thanks.Did you ever eat ice cream made out of snow?

What I've done is made ice cream *using* snow. The ingredients, like cream, sugar, vanilla, etc. are place in an inner container, and then around it is usually ice water or snow. This is to create the cold around it, while you spin it quickly to churn the cream. It may be that your mother actually put snow in the ice cream, but as far as snow being used for ice cream making, this is what I've experienced.
