Can i replace vegetable stock for chicken stock in the cream of mushroom soup?

Also can u please tell me how to prepare vegetable stock?

Can i put brocilli stalks and other unedible parts of vegetable in a stock? Can i replace vegetable stock for chicken stock in the cream of mushroom soup?
Yes, you can switch the stocks.

To make veggie stock simply pile in a bunch of vegetables in a pot (coarsely chopped), cover with water and simmer until the vegetables are limp and the broth looks like stock. You can make a rich stock by roasting the veggies first under the broiler of you oven. Get them nice and brown, then make your stock. Strain all the veggies out and use like any other stock. Good Luck. Can i replace vegetable stock for chicken stock in the cream of mushroom soup?
Yes i would put all in the pot. just make sure you drain with a chessecloth and you can replace veggie stock with chk stock
yes u can.

heres how to make vegetable stock...

3 med. carrots, chopped

3 stalks celery, chopped

2 med. onions, chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 med. potato, diced

1 bell pepper, diced (optional)

12 c. water

Pepper to taste

Herbs to taste

Combine all ingredients in large soup pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer until vegetables are tender (about 1 hour). Remove from heat. Cool and strain. Use liquid as base for vegetable soup or for recipes calling for broth or stock.
yes you can.

in a large pot of water throw in salt, peppercorns, celery, carrots, onions, broccoli stalks, leeks, asparagus stalks, and any other vegetable stalks you can gather up. bring it to a boil on low heat and simmer for a couple hours.
yes, you can, you can use whatever you want in your stock, carrots, celery, onion are musts, they also have veggie stock in the store right with chic, or beef stock
Most vegetables have all edible parts so yes you can
easiest way is to buy veggie stock in the store but heres the recipe for veggie stock
I make homemade veggie stock all the time, and I almost always use stems, ends, roots, etc...all that stuff you normally cut off and throw away...I learned it from my ex, who was a chef at a very hoity-toity restaurant. I even throw in onion skins - it gives it a beautiful color!

Just simmer everything for an hour or more- veggie parts, herbs, garlic, whatever you'd like %26amp; then just strain it when it's done!!

Sauce:

Melt butter in saucepan; add cream and cheese. cook over low heat, stirring constantly. Do not boil.

Cook fettucine in 3 quarts boiling water. Mix chicken and Alfredo sauce together. Drain noodles. Put sauce and chicken over noodles.

How do I make cream gravy, like for chicken fried steak?

I'm a southern gal we know all about cream gravy.

1 cube of butter [1/2 cup] melt in a pan add 1/2 cup flour stir add about a quart of milk, until it is the constancy you want. That feeds a family. But we use margarine.

My grandma used real butter, cream instead of milk. But thats way to rich. How do I make cream gravy, like for chicken fried steak?
Buy the jar gravy, like Heinz beef. It's pretty good. How do I make cream gravy, like for chicken fried steak?
Mrs Foster is a girl after my heart. Love that gravy!
You can make a basic white sauce with a tablespoon of melted margarine, a tablespoon of white flour and milk (whisk the milk slowly until desired consistency).

When I make gravy for biscuits I use bacon or sausage fat instead of Margarine.

If you want turkey or chicken flavoured gravy, use concentrated broth from a roast and thicken it with cornstarch and milk mixture ( Mix one tablespoon of cornstarch with half a cup of milk). Season with seasoned salt.
Campbells Chicken gravy. Already done.
in the market where all the seasonings are get country style or look up on the internet country style gravy recipe
Gravy is real easy to mess up.Most places use pepper gravy for chicken fried steaks. It comes as a powder. It is easier to buy if your not use to making gravy.
Grease, flour and water.
Homemade gravy is a little difficult. I like to get the packets and do it that way.

I never measure when I cook, but homemade gravy includes a little grease, flour, pepper, and milk.

Try 3 or 4 tbsp of grease, 1/4 cup milk, 3 or 4 tbsp flour, and about 1/2 tsp pepper.

Mix Flour, milk, and pepper in a cup and add to hot grease in a skillet on medium heat, when it starts to solidify, stir or whisk until it is the desired thickness.

Hungarian chicken paprikash is served with dumplings. They are VERY easy to make. Not sure if this is the type you are making or not, but if it is, I can get my recipe for dumplings for you when I get home from work. Let me know...
i totally prefer it over pasta,(linguini to be exact) it's on of my favorite dishes, my mom likes it over rice( i think though becasue she doesn't want to waste the rice), but i think pasta was how it was originally served and i absolutely love it
I make chicken paprikash and I put it over noodles . medium egg noodles that is . I love that dish it was given to me by my mom in law from hungary . they are hungarian and I loved them to death . sadly they have both passed now . good luck and god bless.

  • I have frozen chicken breast and cream of mushroom soup. What can I make for dinner?

I need simple, on hand ingredients. I have most of the basics - can't go out and get more because no money left for the week. Ideas? You guys always come through for me. :)

THANKS!I have frozen chicken breast and cream of mushroom soup. What can I make for dinner?
My mom used to make a chicken and broccoli casserole that was always a hit with the kids. Steam about two pounds of broccoli and two or three chicken breasts. Shred the chicken into fairly large pieces. Mix two tablespoons of Mayo with two can of cream of mushroom soup (or one can each of cream of mushroom %26amp; cream of chicken). If you have a small can of sliced mushrooms you can stir that in too. Butter the casserole dish then alternate the broccoli, chicken and the mayonnaise mixture. Top with some chopped green onions, bread crumbs, parsley, almonds or whatever you have on hand. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. This goes great over rice, but I'm Japanese so everything goes great over rice!!! I have frozen chicken breast and cream of mushroom soup. What can I make for dinner?
You can, of course alter this to your liking and what you have on hand

    Ingredients

    1 lb egg noodles

    salt

    4 tablespoons oil, divided

1 1/2 lbs chicken breasts (or chicken tenders, cut into bite-size pieces)

salt %26amp; freshly ground black pepper

1 lb mushroom (large ones cut in quarters small ones cut in half)

    3 tablespoons butter, divided

    1 tablespoon flour

    2 cups chicken stock, divided

    1/2 cup cream or half-and-half

    1-2 tablespoon Dijon mustard

    chives, chopped

    1/4 cup chopped parsley

    Directions

1Cook the noodles in salted water according to package directions.

2While the water is coming up to a boil, preheat a large skillet over high heat with oil, about 2 tablespoons.

3Add the chicken, spreading it out in an even layer, and season with salt and pepper.

4Cook 3 minutes on each side.

5In another large preheated skillet, heat remaining 2 tablespoons of oil and add the mushrooms.

    6Cook until tender, stirring occasionally.

7Once the mushrooms have browned up, season them with salt and freshly ground pepper.

8Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in the mushroom skillet, then add the flour.

9Cook for 1 minute and whisk in 1 1/2 cups chicken stock, the heavy cream and Dijon mustard.

10While the mushroom skillet is coming up to a bubble, add remaining 1/2 cup chicken stock to the skillet with the chicken and scrape the bottom of the pan with a wooden spoon to loosen up the browned bits on the bottom of the skillet.

11Transfer chicken and the liquid to the skillet with the mushrooms.

12Stir to combine, and cook about 1 minute more, or until thick.

13Drain and then return the noodles to the pot and add the 2 tablespoons of butter a little salt, pepper, chives, and parsley and stir to melt the butter.

14To serve, divide the noodles between 4 serving plates, spoon the chicken and mushrooms over the noodles and garnish with chives.
Oh you can prepare a dish easily, if your have rice do a chicken and rice casserole.

Saute some onions, celery and garlic. Brown the chicken. Put all in a dish. Mix the soup with 1/4 can milk and pour over the chicken. Top with crumbs. Bake for 30-45 minutes at 350.

You could add white wine, sage, parsley, thyme or poultry seasoning to the soup for flavor. Be sure to add some salt and pepper.

You could also cook the chicken, cut it up and add it to the soup, 1/4 c milk, and some noodles and bake til bubbly. You could add mushrooms, onions, celery or a bag of frozen mixed vegetable to this.
cook the breast in saute pan, cook some pasta according to directions, drain ,,,return pasta to pot, add soup and milk in place of water to thin soup, cut breast in to small pieces , add to pasta, add some veg .Peas are good, mix well, add S%26amp;P a little basil or oregano or both , a little garlic, reheat ,serve with salad or not and a glass of wine and candlelight.
bake your chicken breast till almost done. pour the soup over it as a gravy type thing. serve with mashed potatoes, or pasta and a vegetable.

OR you could make a top of the stove casserole.

Dice the chicken breast and cook. Add a diced potato for each piece of chicken, and cook till done. add a can or bag of vegetables whatever you have, mixed is best. when done, drain and retain broth, mix the soup in, and if necessary add a bit of the broth to the mixture.

I always keep onion, carrots, celery, and garlic. around.

I sweat veggies and some chopped cilantro and the chicken together.

I open a can of green beans and rinse them. Cut them into smaller pieces. Dump them in with the soup and a can of milk.

    Simmer and serve...
Do you have rice? Then you've got dinner! Saute the chicken in chunks. Serve over rice and top with the soup. If you have onions on hand, slice and saute those with the chicken. Add a bit of garlic if you like. :)
Thaw the chicken breast and brown it over medium heat. Add the chicken, cream of mushroom soup and a couple of quartered potatoes, bake covered at 350 til taters are done. There ya go!

Thanks...What should I cook with cream of mushroom chicken and mashed potatoes?
corn on or off the cob...sounds goodWhat should I cook with cream of mushroom chicken and mashed potatoes?
This might be a wall of text but read through it then write out the steps without details and it can't be any easier.

    Step by step instructions:

    1. Throw the chicken onto the hot frying pan.

Details:( you have to cut the chicken apart. Legs, wings, chest.. etc.) Don't forget to use a spoon full of oil or two depending on how old your frying pan is.

And let any meat you fry or cook warm up to room temperature.

    2. After one minute add a glass of hot water to the chicken.

Details: Usually it takes one glass to cover half of the chicken in water, adjust how much hot water you pour into the frying pan according to how much chicken you have.

3.When the water is boiling add sour cream into the boiling water. And turn the heat down so it would boil slowly onwards.

Details: don't worry if at first you'll see only white lumps it will look nice once it has boiled for a little. Like a sauce.

    4. add salt and pepper.

Details:Since you are inexperienced. Add only 1/2 of a teaspoon full of pepper. And salt little by little. Taste, add, taste, add if needed. If you are unsure if more needs to be added then you got it right and need to stop adding.

    5. Cover the pan and let it braise for 25-30 minutes on a low flame(The sauce or water has boil).

Depending on how big the chicken pieces are of which we are talking here.

Details: you wont need to turn or do anything to the chicken while it braises. And while braising it can't burn. So it should be semi-fool proof.

When the chicken is ready and the sour cream has lumped onto the sides of the pan(what it usually does) then simply stir it into the sauce with a spoon and your done.

    Now to the potatoes. Boil-em, mash-em, fry-em, throw-em, grill-em, put them into a stew, punch-em, kick-em, drug-em, slice-em, dice- em. You can't go wrong.

Make salad using cucumbers, sour cream, tomatoes and dill.

Slice the vegetables and other plants in question into nice edible pieces and add a nice amount of sour cream onto them then stir em up.

If you add some white or black bread and berry/green tea to the meal you will be dining healthy and yummy.

phew... i tried to do my best explaining and when i cook that then it turns out to be tasty.
S%26amp;P then cook your chicken meat in a skillet w/ a little butter. Top w/ cream soup and let it get hot, to make a gravy. If you have some sour cream, stir a dollop of that in for flavor, and maybe 1/3 cup water. Add some garlic and onion powder for seasoniing. Serve chicken and gravy alongside mashed potatoes, w/ some of the gravy on the potatoes.
If you have canned carrots available you can just open the can, pour them (don't drain) (2-3 cans are plenty) into a saucepan. You can put about 6 or 7 packets of splenda, equal, etc in them and heat them up. I promise this is delicious and the easiest think in the world to cook. I had almost the exact combination you're planning and this was the perfect mix.
pretty much any kind of veggie would be good, but not corn. something that isn't a starch. you could make a green salad, that is only tomatoes, lettuce and maybe green onions, radishes. oh my now i am hungry. good job on the mushroom chicken. and for next time on the mashed potatoes, try cooking some broccoli in with the potatoes and then mashing them both with a little milk(cream) and butter. nummmers
Definitely a green vegetable to give some color, variety, and nutrition. Try green beans. Or to add more variety, try a vegetable blend like broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots. Hope the meal comes out great! And I hope your mom likes it. Good luck with your relationship with your mom.
I agree with everyone who said something cold to offset the two cooked portions. A side salad would be perfect, maybe like a spring mix with a vinaigrette (olive oil, balsamic or apple cider or wine vinegar, salt %26amp; pepper if you don't have a pre-made one), and any toppings you like (cucumber, tomato, dried cranberries, walnuts, sunflower seeds...)
My first reaction was to say green beans. Something green to offset the heavy chicken and gravy and potatoes. I would go with asparagus, green beans, or some lighter vegetable dish. Nothing fancy. Just steamed or broiled or however you are capable.
Choose any fresh green vegetable (zucchini, broccoli) and cook it in the microwave for a few minutes. Or a salad, those come in a bag

    You're a great daughter!
Green beans, but make it super yummy, and throw a couple pieces of bacon in there. Start your green beans first, and cook them the whole time everything else is cooking so they'll be tender and super yummy!
    green bean casserole.

    scalloped corn

or just any vegetable in a kettle,

you have a great meal, she is going to appreciate it for sure.
put the cream of mushroom chicken soup on some browned ground beef. Also add onion dip mix and sour cream. Now put this on the mashed potatoes and you have the best stroganoff there is.
    Good for you trying though.

What you need is something to add colour %26amp; crunch.

Carrots, Broccoli, Green Beans, Green Peas, Pickled Beets, etc.
Green beans or green peas -- add a little butter while heating and it will be delicious. You are very thoughtful and I bet your mom will appreciate your efforts VERY much.
Since you are serving two hot dishes, I would recommend something fresh and/or cool to accompany it.

Cut up some fresh fruit, or make a salad.

    Good luck!
i think that yu should totally try some asparagus

    yummy!

cook it with some chicken stock and herb garden seasoning!

garnish with a little sesame seeds

I truly hope all goes well!
    steamed asparagus
    Mac n cheese! :D
green beans would be great. But I have to say YUMMY it sounds good.
    string beans
    mac %26amp;cheese
    maybe broccoli?

and if u have any money on u get a dessert and rent a movie

    she would love that :)

PS: I want to cook this for dinner tonight =)Can I use a can of cream of chicken soup to make turkey gravy?
You could that would be tasty, add some croutons.

Penne pasta, chicken, ramen noodle soup mix, cream of chicken soup, frozen veggies, odds&ends spices, butter?

prefer to keep it healthy-ish but I just am hungry and can't get to the store...any suggestions?Penne pasta, chicken, ramen noodle soup mix, cream of chicken soup, frozen veggies, odds%26amp;ends spices, butter?
boil pasta till almost done pour in one to two cups frozen vegetables let cook for 2 minutes.in same pot as pasta, while that is cooking coat bite size pieces of chicken in olive oil , salt, pepper, garlic powder and cook till lightly browned..add to drained pasta and vegetables..I also add tbs of olive oil to pasta and veggies when done, then salt and pepper..Penne pasta, chicken, ramen noodle soup mix, cream of chicken soup, frozen veggies, odds%26amp;ends spices, butter?
Assuming this is a whole chicken, cut it up and salt and pepper it. Put a little bit of olive oil or butter in a heavy skillet and turn the heat up to medium. Fry the chicken skin side down until browned, then flip the pieces over and brown the other side- say, 5 minutes.

Pour out the excess chicken fat that's accumulated, and add about 2 cups of the frozen vegetables. A sliced onion would be a very good thing to add, as would some garlic.

If you have some white wine, add a cup, cover the pan, and cook on medium heat for 20 minutes. Add more wine or some hot water if it gets dry.

While this is cooking, boil a big pot and cook the penne until it's al dente. Drain it well.

When the chicken is doen, you should have plenty of sauce along with the cooked chicken. Mix that with the penne, along with a couple pats of butter to enrich it a bit, and serve with the chicken.
You can definitely make something with these ingredients...boil your penne in heavily salted water, and pan cook your chicken (with salt, pepper, and olive oil). if you don't want to pan cook your chicken you can always use salt and pepper on it with a little olive oil and bake it for approximately 20 minutes. Don't forget to let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before you chop it up - it will come out better that way! Microwave your frozen vegetables (depending on your microwave and the amount of food...for 3minutes or so) with a little salt and butter, be sure to fill your container at least half full with water to cook the veggies. I would use the soup as a cream sauce and add half the milk required to keep it thick. Drain your pasta and place it into a large mixing bowl. Chop up your chicken and add it to the pasta. Drain your vegetables and add them in too. Finally add in your 'cream sauce'. Adjust your flavors with salt and pepper. I would not use the ramen noodle mix with this...the flavors will really clash. ';Arroz con Pollo'; (Rice with Chicken) - 4 to 6 servings

    1 (3 1/2 lb.) broiler-fryer; cut up

    1 tsp. salt

    1/8 tsp. pepper

    1/8 tsp. paprika

    1/4 cup olive oil

    1 cup sliced mushrooms

    1 medium onion; chopped

    1 large clove garlic; minced

    3 1/2 cups chicken broth

1 (28 oz.) can tomatoes; chopped

    1/2 tsp. oregano leave; crushed

    1/4 tsp. saffron; crushed

    1 bay leaf

2 cups raw regular long-grain rice

1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen peas

    1/4 cup pimento strips

    1) Season chicken with salt, pepper and paprika. In 5-quart Dutch oven or large pot over medium-high heat, in hot oil, cook chicken pieces, a few at a time, until browned on all sides; set aside.

    2) Over medium heat, in hot drippings, cook mushrooms, onion and garlic until onion is tender, stirring occasionally. Stir in broth, tomatoes, oregano, saffron and bay leaf; heat to boiling.

    3) Add rice and chicken. Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer 30 minutes or until chicken is almost fork-tender. Add peas and pimento; cook 15 minutes more or until chicken is fork-tender. Discard bay leaf.
    Singapore Chicken Rice

    INGREDIENTS

    1 (4 pound) whole chicken

    3 cloves garlic

2 (1 inch) pieces fresh ginger root, peeled

    2 green onions

    1/2 teaspoon salt

    2 tablespoons sesame oil

    3 tablespoons vegetable oil

    1 tablespoon sesame oil

    2 shallots, finely chopped

    5 cloves garlic, minced

1 (1 inch) piece fresh ginger root, peeled and chopped

    1/2 cup chopped cilantro

    4 cups chicken stock

    1/2 teaspoon salt

3 cups long grain rice, rinsed and drained

    cilantro sprigs

    sliced green onion

    1 cucumber, thinly sliced

    2 fresh tomatoes, chopped

    DIRECTIONS

Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Crush 3 cloves of garlic and 2 pieces of ginger, and place them into the cavity of the chicken. Tie the green onions into a knot, and place them into the chicken along with 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Carefully submerge the chicken breast side down into the water.

Bring to a boil, then cover and remove from heat. Let stand covered for 40 minutes, turning the chicken over half way through.

While the chicken is cooking, heat the vegetable oil and 1 tablespoon of sesame oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Fry the shallots, ginger, and garlic in the oil until fragrant. Add cilantro and rice, and cook, stirring until toasted. Pour in chicken stock and season with salt. Bring to a boil, then cover and reduce heat to low. Simmer until rice is tender and 'steam holes' appear in the surface of the rice, about 20 minutes.

When the chicken is done cooking, remove it from the pot, and place under cold running water to tighten the skin. Rub the outside with sesame oil, and chop into pieces. Place pieces on a serving platter, and garnish with cilantro, green onion, cucumber and tomato. Serve with rice
try cream of celery, that works well too.
Same results with an old approach. Instead of using cans of cream of chicken soup or cream of mushroom soup, make the soup from scratch. Will give that ';home made'; taste.
u should make it this way.

half of a cup of water, soy sauce, and sugar. Put 1 spood of galic.

First fries the galic until it is brown and then mixe in water soy sauce and then mixe it well. Wait till the water is hot and then add in sugar and mixe it well. Then put the chicken breasts in and cook it.

    that is good and easy

cook it until u think is right.

Try Campbells.com. They send me a recipe almost everyday, all soup related, and a lot of them with chicken. Will research, will get back to you.

Decided not to go thru 286 recipes. I brown the chicken on top of the stove, turn down the heat, and add mushroom soup, [cream of chicken would work fine]and simmer until done. I make the dressing/stuffing separately, you could always spoon the dressing into a baking dish and put the chicken in on top. You could add a bit of onion, or poultry seasoning to the sauce, if you wanted.

Went to allrecipes, com, and typed into their browser: chicken stuffing soup. Got 4 recipes, which looked really good, one had veggies, another was in the stuffing. Really, they looked good.

  • Will sour cream curdle in a chicken casserole?

Can I bake my chicken casserole with the sour cream mixed in for an hour, or do I have to add the sour cream after the casserole has been cooking? Will sour cream curdle in a chicken casserole?
Sour cream will be fine, unless you're adding alot of citrus acid or vinegar to the dish. Then make sure it's whisked together really well before you cook it......Will sour cream curdle in a chicken casserole?
If there's only a small amount (say a few tablespoons) of sour cream in it, I'd go ahead and risk it. But if there's a lot, and you're cooking it for an hour, there's a risk of it curdling.

Some supermarkets now stock a sour-cream-like product called creme fraiche, sold in tubs just like sour cream is, usually either close to the sour cream and yogurt or close to the cheeses. The great thing about it is that it doesn't curdle. It's much like sour cream otherwise--maybe a little less ';sour';. But it's a great product and easier to work with. It's not quite the thick, gelatinous texture of commercial sour cream, but you can use it anywhere you'd use sour cream. AND--you can make your own at home. It's super-easy, it just has to be made 8 hours in advance.

    CREME FRAICHE

    --1 cup heavy cream

    --1/4 cup buttermilk

    --1 tablespoon lemon juice

Mix the 3 ingredients together. The natural fermenting agents in the buttermilk do all the work. (Use the rest of the buttermilk for pancakes, biscuits, or salad dressing.) Cover the mixture and let it sit out at warm room temperature for at least 8 hours or overnight. Then move it into the refrigerator--it will keep for at least a week and a half.

Unlike sour cream, it can be added straight into hot liquids and cooked in hot dishes without separating.

    I hope this helps!
I make casseroles all the time that have sour cream added to them and have had no problems with it as an ingredient.
yes you can i bake using sour cream and it will not curdle
it'll be fine. Mix it in and bake.
itll be fine,, many casseroles call for sour cream

How do u make chicken and rice cream soup using roux?

i wanna make a chicken and rice cream soup. i don tknow if u ate at panera bread, but they have a chicken and wild rice soup thats real good. i want to make a soup similar to it. can someone give me a a good recipe to make one? im not sure on soups so be detailed so i wont break the soup. thanks. How do u make chicken and rice cream soup using roux?
If you really want to start from scratch, take the usable meat off a part eaten left over chicken.

Then simmer the carcass (skeleton) in water containing onions, celery and carrots. (Bring to boil and turn down heat so it bubbles gently for say 2 hours.)

Strain off the solids - throw them away and keep the liquid (stock).

To make a roux you need equal weights of butter, melted in saucepan, and flour , stirred in and cooked for 2 - 3 minutes to get rid of the raw flour taste.

I find corn flour (corn starch in US) is less likely to form lumps.

Gradually add the reserved stock (Cold is better) and stir like mad over a low flame til it thickens.

It should be lump free. If it's lumpy you have to add an extra step. Tip the whole lot into a liqidiser (or better still use one of those wand liquidisers in the saucepan). Give it a quick blast to get rid of the lumps.

Add the neat little bits of chopped chicken, as much freshly cooked (in a different saucepan) rice as you like.

I think loads of chopped parsley makes all the difference.

Naturally, I've left the seasoning up to you.

Stir in a little cream before serving - ladle it out and off you go!How do u make chicken and rice cream soup using roux?
    you can

    INGREDIENTS

    1 1/2 cups chopped celery

    1 1/2 cups chopped onion

    2 cups uncooked brown rice

    1 teaspoon chicken bouillon powder

2 (14 ounce) cans chicken broth

    1 1/2 cups water

    1 cup margarine

    3/4 cup all-purpose flour

3 cups chopped, cooked chicken meat

    6 cups milk, divided

    salt and pepper to taste

    DIRECTIONS

In a large pot over high heat, combine the celery, onions, rice, bouillon, broth and water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer for 30 minutes, or until the rice has absorbed most of the liquid. Remove from heat and set aside.

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter or margarine. Slowly add the flour, stirring often, to make a roux. Add 4 cups of milk, 1/2 cup at a time, while constantly stirring. Add this and the chicken to the rice mixture and return the rice mixture to the stovetop over low heat.

If the soup seems too thick, add some or all of the remaining 2 cups of milk. Season with salt and pepper to taste and allow to simmer for at least an hour, stirring every 15 minutes.

Sounds like you're already on your way! Just kick it up a notch with some spices. Tarragon, or rosemary....Put it in the preheated oven(covered) 375 for 45 minutes. Bon apetit!
Why not skih the chicken breasts and season them with Lawry's Seasoning salt and meat tenderizer, and garlic pepper. Place the chicken in the oven with a hint of zesty italian salad dressing and let that bad boy cook for about 45 minutes to an hour. THen, after the chicken is almost ready to come out (about 15 before its done), place some cream of mushroom (about one can) on top and let it simmer. Delicious! U can cook it with a side of rice or cut up the chicken into strips inside rice for a casserole.
Be careful using that Campbell's soup recipe where you lay the chicken on top of rice mixed w/ soup. That NEVER comes out good for me! Yuck!

    This, however, is wonderful!

I use cream of mushroom or cream of chicken..just put the breasts and soup in the crock pot with some chopped onion, carrots and celery...serve it over rice or egg noodles...yummy and easy!!!
chop up the chicken into thin slices and in a casserole dish I put a layer of chicken then a layer of vegetables(anything that needs using up) salt and pepper it and keep repeating the process until all ingredients used up then I put a layer of thin potatoes to cover the top of the casserole the add the soup I use milk instead of water and leave it to cook in the oven on about 170 for 1 - 1half hours. lovely served with warm crusty bread. Potatoes on top should be crispy when cooked.
I just made a recipe that was on the can of Campbell's Soup Can. you take your chicken breasts and put paprika on them add some Garlic powder. Spread Breast with Cream of mushroom soup (right out of the can) Cover with tin foil and bake 4 Chicken breasts at 375degrees for 1 half hour. I took of the cover and let the chicken brown a little, I made Corn and mashed potatoes
I don't particularly like using only breasts for this dish but it's a matter of taste.

Dredge your meat in seasoned flour.

    Brown both sides.

Reduce heat to simmer and add 1 can condensed mushroom soup.

    Add 3/4 can milk.

Cover and simmer until sauce thickens and the chicken is done and tender.

    The sauce makes great gravy.

Campbell's cream of chicken...is it good?

For some odd reason, this sounds very good. I have like 4 cans of it and need to know if it's good....is it one of those soups only good for cooking? Or do people actually eat it? If so i guess i'll give it a shot by itself, it can't be that bad. I just need some outside opinions before i waste time, and a can.Campbell's cream of chicken...is it good?

What can I make w/ chicken, potatos, and cream of celery soup?

I have chicken tenders, cans of cream of chicken, and cream of celery, fingerling potatos, seasonings??, butter??, and a Crock Pot! Can someone tell me a good way to throw together a recipe for my crock pot to cook all day while I'm at work? :0) I mainly want to make something using the Chicken, the Potatos, and the cream soup of whichever... Anyone?? Please...

TIAWhat can I make w/ chicken, potatos, and cream of celery soup?
    2 lbs chicken parts

4 oz potato cut into pieces

2 10-oz cans cream of celery soup

1 envelope dry onion soup mix

1 cup cream of chicken soup- or without and use cream/milk and butter

Place chicken in slow cooker. In bowl, combine remaining ingredients and pour over chicken pieces. Cover and cook on low/medium for 6 hours.

top with shredded cheeseWhat can I make w/ chicken, potatos, and cream of celery soup?
Chunks of chicken in the soup and add random veggies you happen to have (like cut up carrots) and chunks of potatoes. Crock pot dinners are easy and good. Yummmmm. And don't forget that everything is better with butter!!! Oh, and your kid is less likely to smoke or do drugs if you eat a nice dinner together, you know, if you, like, even have kids or ever plan on having them some day, or don't even plan at all.

Oh! And pie is good too.

Can I use plain yogurt in place of mayonnaise and whipped cream in a chicken salad recipe?

I do, but first I drain it, (colander lined with coffee filters over a ceramic bowl) then add lemon juice, garlic and dill for flavoring. Can I use plain yogurt in place of mayonnaise and whipped cream in a chicken salad recipe?
Yeah plain yogurt will work fine. You may want to brighten the flavor of the chicken salad a little with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice. Can I use plain yogurt in place of mayonnaise and whipped cream in a chicken salad recipe?
Yes you can.....you can even substitue sour cream.....maybe 80% yogurt and 20% mayo and you probably would not even be able to tell in the taste or texture...but sour cream gives the same creamy texture as the mayo
eww won't that make it sweet?
    ew that would taste nasty

    My family loves this recipe!

    6 chicken breasts

    2-3Tbsp. oil

8oz. fresh sliced mushrooms (we use more because we love mushrooms)

    fresh cut-up broccoli

2 cans cream of mushroom soup, undiluted

Brown chicken %26amp; mushrooms in oil. Place in a 9x13 pan. Add broccoli. Pour soup over top. Bake @ 350 for 1 1/2 hours.
I'm pretty sure that the recipe is usually right on the side of the soup can.
I'm not sure what recipe you are looking for, but I make a chicken tetrazini dish. It calls for chicken, chicken broth, onion, spaghetti noodles, cream of mushroom soup, and cheddar cheese soup. I make it quite often, because my husband and kids love it. Hope this helps.
Cut the chicken into cubes, brown in a skillet with salt, pepper, and a (very) little oil, then add the cream of mushroom soup with only 1/2 the can of milk, scraping the bottom of the pan so you get all the yummy browned bits up fo flavor. Serve with rice, or better yet over mashed potatoes.

Also very good with pork chops.
    You can try this -

    1. Mix one can soup with milk or creame. Just enough where it is a smooth paste - not too runny.

    2. Put a couple chicken breast in a baking dish, cover with soup mixture, add whatever spices and seasonings you want and back at about 350 until the chicken is done.

    3. You can ALSO put a layer of cooked rice in the baking dish, put the chicken on top of that and then add soup mixture.

    4. You can ALSO add broccoli or other veggies - just make sure the chicken is done.

Would it taste good to add heavy whipping cream to chicken and rice ?

It would be added to a can of cream of chicken, rice, chicken, and broccolli. thanksWould it taste good to add heavy whipping cream to chicken and rice ?
Well you already have a cream of chicken so that's going to make it pretty creamy. Heavy cream is going to increase the fat and calories so high it would just cancel out the healthy factor completly.

If you really want to you can, it's going to make it thicker and give it more of a cream flavor.Would it taste good to add heavy whipping cream to chicken and rice ?
yes it would be great! also you can add a bit of sour cream for a really creamy dish. I use whipping cream often--I whip like for dessert only i do not add sugar. Make sure you check the label for added sugar you dont what your dish sweet!
Oh yeah, fat makes anything taste better, sounds good.
sure add the whole tub...i put it on there before i serve the meal...MMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmm...good........g鈥?luck and have a nice day
It's already a cream based soup, so why add heavy cream? It will be overly rich and unhealthy. Why not add chicken broth, veggie broth, milk, skim milk or water? That might be a nicer balance of flavor.

I need a recipe for white chicken chili with cream cheese, montery jack cheese and sour cream.?

I used to have a recipe for this, but I can't find it. A ground turkey recipe would be okay, too. If you have a recipe without the montery jack and sour cream that is okay too.I need a recipe for white chicken chili with cream cheese, montery jack cheese and sour cream.?
I don't really have a recipe with all the ingredients you asked for but I do have a really good white chili recipe I cut out of a magazine once and I make it all the time:

    white chili

1 lb. chicken, cooked and shredded or cut up

1 Lg jar Randall's Northern beans

    1 jar salsa

1 8-oz bag (or 2 cups) shredded cheese- your choice

Mix together chicken, beans, and salsa in a pot. Heat and simmer. Stir in cheese and continue cooking until the cheese melts. That's it- it is really easy and can be made in a crock pot. Also, it is kind of thick so you can add a can of chicken broth if you want.I need a recipe for white chicken chili with cream cheese, montery jack cheese and sour cream.?
The cheese and sour cream may be tasty, but unhealthy. Cholesterol counts are high in cheese and dairy products. If you find this recipe try to minimize the cheese when you prepare it.

Can you substitute cream of mushroom soup for cream of chicken?

i have a recipe that calls for cream of mushroom soup. but i dont like mushrooms so i got cream of chicken will that workCan you substitute cream of mushroom soup for cream of chicken?
Yes, it will taste a little different but should work OK depending on what you are making. If you are making a casserole where it calls for the soup you will probably not notice a difference.

Only problem I would see is if you were making something that has beef in it and you would probably not want to put chicken flavored stuff in a casserole that calls for cream of mushroom soup.

I have had to make the substitution on the fly when was cooking dinner and did not have the cream of mushroom soup. Good Luck! Can you substitute cream of mushroom soup for cream of chicken?
Absolutely, that is how new recipes are born
As far as I'm concerned, recipes are just guide lines! You adjust however you'd like! My kids don't like mushrooms and one son is vegetarian, so we use a lot of Cream of celery or brocolli.
I'm like you - I don't like canned mushrooms, anyway. I always substitute with cream of chicken.
It'll probably give your recipe a different taste, but it should be okay.
yes indeed i use it alot with cooking.....
yes, any of the ';cream'; soups can be used instead of just the mushroom... I don't like the mushroom either, and usually use the chicken myself...
yes. I think it tastes great
As long as it is not a beef dish. It also ';tastes'; a little saltier, so if your recipe calls for adding salt, don't. Remember that the cream of chicken will look yellow, vs the off white of cream of mushroom.
    Yes
I always do -- even for green bean cassarole - and no one has noticed yet
Yep. Or, if you want to use cream of celery, you can do that.
Yes they all have the same consistancy. If the flavor fits, it will be fine. I use celery instead of mushroom often.
yes, of course! that's part of being a cook, whether part-time or full-time--learn to try experiment with different ingredients :) happy cooking...
sure, if you don't mind a ';chickeny'; taste instead of a ';mushroomy'; taste.

spend the dollar, go to the store, and get cream of mushroom, especially if youre making green bean casserole.
it would totally change the taste of whatever you are cooking.... cream of mushroom has a very distinct flavor.... sure it might still work, but it just wouldn't taste the same......

Does anyone have any dinner ideas for someone that doesn't like chicken or cream of mushroom soup?

Do you like barbecue? If you have any left over meat, put it in

a microwavable covered dish. pour plenty of barbecue sauce

over it and microwave it till it is steaming hot and the sauce has flavored the meat. Serve with a salad or what ever you like best. If you don't have left overs do the same with any kind of meat that you might have, just cook longer. Barbecued hamburgers , hot dogs. Me I like barbecued chicken! Bonn appetite!!
How about a nice salad. You could buy one of those salad mixes at the produce department of your grocery store and put in just about anything you like. You could make it hartier by putting in slices of ham, or shrimp. I love salads, the great thing is they fill you up, and help your figure look great too.
um do mean u want to cook somethin with that but how to disguise it or just something different cuz then i would say anything give them a corn dog or something. my mom used to give us that when i didnt want to eat what they were
You have plenty of options. chicken and mushroom soup are not the only ingredients in the world.

Im making a Tuna casserole. However, I want it to be a broccoli tuna noodle casserole. Im not a fan of cream of mushroom. All the recipes Im finding call for cream of Mushroom. Can I use Cream of chicken instead? Will it affect the taste much you think? Im also thinking of adding a can of Brocolli cheese as well...Can I replace cream of mushroom with cream of chicken?
Sure you can substitute pretty much any cream of soup. It will change the flavor slightly, but if you don't like mushrooms, no big deal. Can I replace cream of mushroom with cream of chicken?
Yes, you can substitute. The taste will change a bit and it will probably be more creamy, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Adding or substituting broccoli cheese soup will make it thinner (especially adding) but I'd encourage you to experiment - that's how some of the best recipes come about!
Mushrooms, generally, add an earthier flavor to a food but I have never found that cream of mushroom ever adds that earthier flavor.

Cream of Chicken should work just fine since it will be mildly flavored and the tuna in the dish should override the chicken flavor.

My wife and I replace the tuna in Tuna Helper with chicken and it turns out great.
Sure you can. Cream of brocolli might be good too.

I shouldn't make it taste ';off'; if that is what you are asking.

If it were me though, I would use the mushroom, you won't taste it at all if you add a pungent cheese topping to the casserole like grated Parmesan cheese.
it will probably affect the taste, it will taste like chicken not mushroom, but other than than, it shouldn't change it much.
instead of cream of chicken, which will affect the taste you could add cream of celery

Instead of cream of celery/chicken, what else could I add to my baked chicken breast?
